Error message at start-up

If there is a network related problem detected at program start-up then one of the messages listed above may appear before the opening screen.

The "Not running on a network" message could mean that SHARE has not been loaded (on networks that require it). The second message is usually caused because the program can't find STANUM or STAMAX in the environment. In either case, the program goes into a single user mode that requires exclusive use of all files.

Action

1) At the DOS prompt, type "SET" (without quotes). The statements SET CLIPPER=FXX, STANUM=X and STAMAX=X (where X equals some value) should be listed in the environment. If not, check the AUTOEXEC.BAT file and make sure the STANUM = and STAMAX = statements are executing BEFORE any WIN, MENU or other command which takes control from AUTOEXEC.BAT.

2) Make sure SHARE is loaded (if required) BEFORE any WIN or MENU commands.

3) Make sure PCNETLIB.LOK is available in application directory.

4) Make sure program is run from a network "mapped" drive, NOT a "physical" drive.

5) If occuring with Purchase Order Tracker, make sure if set to integrate with Stockroom Inventory Manager a valid path is entered.

6) If changes are made, REBOOT system.

7) Also, see "Network Notes" or Troubleshooting chapter in manual.
