Condition

Error SDF/1001

Error SDF/1001 occurs when R&R is trying to create a text file to display to the screen, but cannot create the file. After RR begins to swap out and after the *WAIT* is displayed, RR may generate an error message: "Invalid Default Data Directory". If RR can find a previously built REPXXX.TMP file, it will display it. If not, the dreaded red error window will pop up with something like the following:

ERROR SDF/1001 Open Error: c:\cmstemp\REPXX.TMP

(DOS Error 2)

Action

Run RRSETUP

Check Defaults

Look at path entered for DEFAULT DATA DIRECTORY

* Is it a VALID directory? Does the user have write privilege to it?

Default directory is BLANK - defaults to RR's directory.

Delete directory reference, or specify a valid one.

Delete REPXX.TMP file

Restart PO

This same condition applies to Stockroom Inventory Manager - or any program using RR Report Writer.

This may also occur in a Windows environment when there are 2 or more instances of the program running simultaneously. Occasionally, if the computer does not respond quickly enough after clicking the icon to start the program, human nature insists that the icon be clicked AGAIN and then AGAIN. This results in multiple copies of the program running in memory. Check to see of there are other copies of the program running by holding the ALT key down and pressing the TAB key several times. This will display the icons of other programs that are running currently.
