Open Index DBFNTX 1003

Condition

Error Message containing the statement:

DBFNTX 1003 OPEN INDEX (IndexFileName)

The cause for this error is a missing or corrupted index file.

Action

If the problem occurs while in the Stockroom Inventory Program, get out to the DOS prompt and log into the inventory directory. For example, if your inventory directory is called INV and is located just off the root directory, you would type CD \INV.

If the problem occurs while in Purchase Order Tracker, get out to the DOS prompt and log into the PO directory. For example, if your PO directory is called PO and is located just off the root directory, you would type CD \PO.

Once you are in the proper directory, type the following EXACTLY as shown below:

DEL *.NTX

This will delete all your index files so that they can be rebuilt properly.

CAUTION: You MUST type the DEL statement exactly as shown. Check it carefully before pressing ENTER. There should be one space to the left of the asterisk (*) and NO spaces to the right of the asterisk. If there is a space to the right of the asterisk you will delete ALL the files in your directory including data, index, and program files. BE CAREFUL.

After deleting the index files, start the program. If in the INV directory, type STINV. If in the PO directory, type POMENU. This will rebuild all your index files and remove all index corruption.
